his, my personal story about this fantastic publication.I was first introduced to this book during a regular scheduled
weekly visit of the 4th grade class to the school library in the early 1960's.
I wasn't very interested in reading so I was looking for something with pictures.
I pulled this book off the shelf and from that moment on
I learned what it was like to love to read.
I checked this book out of the library time and time again, it is a little
difficult reading for a 4th grader. First I admired all the illustrations of all
the different faces. Then I picked and choose what captions I read.
Soon I read all the captions in the book and began slowly reading more
interesting stuff about the captioned illustrations.

I believe during my 4th grade year, I kept this book checked out of the
school library more than not.

I began to compare what I had read with all the heads and personalities
of my classmates and other students in the school, grades 1-12.

Soon, quietly to myself I was making judgements about people but keeping
those judgement to myself.

I practiced this new found skill for years and could eventually astonish
others of my special skill of judging people and their character on sight.

By the 7th grade, consolidation of the schools, mixing of the races,
began and we were thought to put away our preconceived notions about
others by 'not judging books or people by their cover.'
For years I set aside what I had learned from this book until I discovered that
this seemly innocent publication was instrumental during World War II in Germany.
It was used by German leadership to determine qualities, or lack thereof, found in people.
I was amazed at how such a quiet little book I knew so well could become involved
in such hideous history.

While definantly not 100% accurate way to make judgement of people
and their personalities simply by their physical appearance,
after reading this publication your eyes will be open in a new way.
Notice how the Movie Industry has taken this publication
WORD FOR WORD
in their characters appearance, actions, design and personalities.

This is an interesting publication with a somewhat dark history.
But the perceptions contained therein can open a whole new world of
character judgement. Abilities that could stay with you a lifetime.
