This is an auto-biography by Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton is a confession of events which occurred in the in the mid 19^th century and recorded just prior to his death in 1872.

It is rumored that under the US island of Puerto Rico in the Carribean is a massive underground cavern. Alien spacecraft, or something with lights, flies in and out of the area and can be seen entering and exiting from a large lake or the southern sea on the southwest corner of Puerto Rico. It is also rumored quite unbelievably that there is an underground tunnel between Puerto Rico and Europe used to sling spacecraft back into space. Incidently this landing site is also one of the corners of the Devil’s, or Bermuda Triangle. Local residents claim a fantastic story about Earth as a stop for aliens to refuel with heavy water as Earth is located on a remote outer rim of the Milky Way Galaxy. Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton states that his encounter began when an underground mine broke through into a wide cavern.

Understand that this is a record of a close encounter nearly 100 years prior to Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. At first this could be considered and dismissed a flight of fancy until you read the description of the beings, their living environment, alien technology, and even a fantistic description of the alien society and government structure.
